Lochaber Smelter Power house

Global Infrastructure completed significant Civil works for Rio Tinto Alcan within the existing power house at Lochaber Smelter. The works - which included: breaking out old machine sets; excavation works; formwork, reinforcing steel; concreting works; pressure grouting;

As part of the scope of work, approximately 800 m3 of concrete was broken out within the power house and removed off-site . The new structures built to house the new generating machines consisted of 115 tonnes of rebar and 3500m3 of reinforced concrete.

All to enable the installation of new power generators.
