The project at Auchroisk Distillery involved comprehensive refurbishment and infrastructure improvements to a 65,000-litre distillery balance tank and its surrounding area. Key elements of the works included:
- Draining and Cleaning of Balance Tank - Safe and controlled removal of all liquid contents followed by thorough internal cleaning to prepare the tank for inspection and repair.
- Concrete Repairs - Structural repairs to the internal and external tank walls, addressing areas of deterioration to restore integrity and prolong service life.
- Removal of Redundant Services - Decommissioning and removal of obsolete pipework and electrical cabling both inside and outside the tank to streamline the system and improve safety.
- Construction of Service Housing - Formation of a new wind- and water-tight service housing to protect critical infrastructure and provide secure access for maintenance personnel.
- Access Pathway Installation - Creation of a safe and durable pedestrian access path encircling the tank to facilitate routine inspections and maintenance.
- Vehicle Access Improvements - Development of a robust vehicle access route around the tank to support operational logistics and emergency access.
- Security Fencing - Installation of a perimeter security fence complete with lockable vehicle and pedestrian gates to enhance site safety and control access.
- Land Grading and Turning Area - Regrading of the surrounding land to form a functional vehicle turning area, improving manoeuvrability and site efficiency.
