Cragganmore Distillery
Project: Cragganmore Distillery Structural Works
Location: Cragganmore, Ballindalloch
Client: Diageo
This project involved a series of complex structural and civil engineering works at the historic Cragganmore Distillery, carried out to enhance safety, improve access, and preserve the visual character of the site. All activities were carefully planned and executed in line with the operational requirements of the distillery and its heritage setting.
The works began with the careful demolition of 75 metres of unstable stone retaining wall, which was replaced with a new reinforced retaining wall to provide long-term stability and safety. A second wall was cleaned and repointed to preserve its structural integrity while maintaining the traditional appearance of the distillery.
Improvements to access included reshaping a residential entrance and installing a new kerb line to improve traffic flow and safety on the access road. Within the visitor carpark, coping stones were removed and replaced with new in-situ poured concrete retaining walls and foundations to provide improved support and durability. At the ramped vehicle access point, a new concrete retaining wall was formed to reinforce the existing structure, ensuring safe and reliable access for deliveries and operations.
The project was completed with land regrading and soft landscaping works, which improved drainage, enhanced aesthetics, and increased the usability of the areas around the carpark.
