2025 – A Year in Review: Global Infrastructure’s Highlights From the Past Twelve Months

As another year draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff, supply chain partners, and clients for their contributions. It has been a busy year at Global Infrastructure, delivering key projects across Scotland through long-term partnerships and framework agreements with tier one operators, playing an important role in supporting the nation’s next generation of energy infrastructure. Some of our key highlights from the year can be found below.

This year, our parent company, Global (formerly Global Energy Group), the UK’s leading energy and infrastructure solutions provider, celebrated its 20th anniversary with the launch of a refreshed identity. For Global Infrastructure, our name remained the same, but our look has evolved. Our new branding aligns with the wider Global portfolio, reflecting that while we are proud of our own roots, we’re also part of something bigger. It opens opportunities for collaboration across the Global group, provides the scale to win new work, and gives our clients greater confidence in our delivery.

At the start of the year, following a period of steady growth, we also moved into a new office at Aurora House, located in the heart of Inverness Campus. While our operational base remains in Beauly, our Corporate and Compliance team relocated to the new office to support future growth. Meanwhile, our operational functions, including production, commercial, planning, bid, and procurement teams, continue to operate from Beauly.

This year, we delivered and handed over two identical, multi-million-pound operations warehouses for SSEN Transmission – one at Dalcross and one in Dundee. Both facilities are vital hubs designed to strengthen the resilience and efficiency of Scotland’s high-voltage electricity transmission network. Our team constructed the 7,500 sqm facilities, featuring heavy lifting capabilities, advanced storage systems, and enhanced security and monitoring technologies. These were significant projects for Global Infrastructure, and ones we are proud to have delivered.

Progress also continues apace on our other projects across Scotland, particularly at Dounreay West Substation – our most northerly live project. Here, six buildings and their electrical equipment foundations are under construction for Siemens BAM Joint Venture on behalf of SSEN Transmission. Over the past year, the site has grown from a greenfield plot into a significant construction project, with the buildings and broader civil engineering works now taking shape.

Over at Aberarder Windfarm, we are currently on-site working in partnership with Kirby to deliver the substation for SSE Renewables. Our scope at Aberarder includes the construction of the substation and control buildings, as well as completion of the site platform. Once complete, the new substation will connect the windfarm to the national grid, supporting the delivery of clean energy across Scotland. The Kirby Monthly Quality Award was recently presented to our team for this project, which recognises the positive communication, transparency, and commitment to quality.

Iain Henderson, Global Infrastructure’s CEO, commented: “At the heart of everything we do are our people. Their skills, dedication, and commitment make the difference on every project. With a 230-strong workforce, they set us apart in the market. I’m proud of what we have achieved so far, and with the continued efforts of our teams and our refreshed look in line with our parent company, Global, I am confident we will keep growing and making our mark.

“Our projects and track record, including the SSEN Transmission warehouses, demonstrate our team and supply chain’s capability to deliver not only locally but across Scotland and beyond our Highland base. Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited to continue work on vital infrastructure projects such as Dounreay, Aberarder, Lochay Replant, and Lochay Substation, while actively pursuing new tender opportunities.

“On a personal note, the success of our business year after year would not be possible without our exceptional team, so I extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for their hard work and commitment. I wish all a Merry Christmas, a fantastic 2025, and a well-earned festive break, and I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for the year ahead.”
