Darren MacRae
Specialist Work Director
Upon leaving secondary school, I was unsure of which career path to pursue. I came across an apprenticeship opportunity with Tulloch Civil Engineering and, after researching the company and discussing it with my family, decided to take up the position.
After a year in the apprenticeship, I chose to broaden my skills by studying Project Management at university. I was fortunate to receive sponsorship from Tulloch, which enabled me to complete my studies while planning to return to site-based work as an engineer.
As my career progressed, I established myself as a senior engineer, moving into site management and then project management roles, overseeing multiple projects across a wide range of sectors within the civil engineering industry.
I was later offered the opportunity to join Mansfield Construction, a new company founded by former directors of Tulloch. This role further enhanced my project management experience and leadership development. Following Mansfield’s early success and its merger with Global Infrastructure, I transitioned into roles as Construction/Contracts Manager and later promoted to Construction Director.
After a brief period in another director role, I returned to Global Infrastructure in 2026 as Specialist Works Director. In this role, I will be looking to focus on growing the specialist works division while contributing to the operational aspects of the wider business.
With over 25 years of experience in the civil engineering and construction sector, I remain dedicated to my continuous learning and development. The civil engineering market across the Highlands and wider Scotland is vibrant, and I am dedicated to ensuring that Global Infrastructure stays at the forefront, delivering exceptional product, service, and value, for our clients.
