Career Pathways

Tanya Bartlet, Compliance Director

Having studied Business Administration, I began my career as an Office Junior at Scottish Malt Distillers, followed by a role as a Receptionist at the pioneering Macallan Glenlivet Distillery in Craigellachie.

Following a career break to raise four children, I joined an M&E company where I seized the opportunity to study accounting and progressed to the position of Office Manager. Subsequently, I transitioned to Mansefield Construction, further expanding my expertise.

I then embraced a role at Global Infrastructure as an Accounts Manager. However, by 2013, I felt the need for a change, venturing into the role of Quality Manager, earning valuable credentials from IEMA along the way. From there, I advanced to my current position as Compliance Director, which I have held since 2023.

As the Compliance Director, I strive to inspire the team toward cultural change and an understanding of the need for continuous improvement. My primary focus lies in industry regulations, statutory, and legislative obligations. Currently, I oversee a team of seven dedicated individuals, who collectively focus on monitoring, maintaining, and enhancing Quality, Environmental, HR, and Business Management Systems.

With 23 years of experience in this industry, I continue to be amazed and excited by the projects we undertake — projects that are quite literally raised from the ground. To those uncertain of their career path, I encourage considering a venture into civil engineering. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain in terms of a long-standing career with solid job prospects.
